Synopsis:

Sunny Kennedy, the only female in a family of blue blood male detectives, is determined to prove testosterone isn’t the only qualification required to solve a cold case. Handcuffed while undercover then taken to the precinct by an attractive detective, her domineering family demands she work with Detective Judson Blackwolf, or she’s off the case. Judson Blackwolf thinks women in law enforcement should work behind the scenes. The prospect of working with his Captain’s sexy daughter doesn’t thrill him. He only agrees in hopes of solving the murder of his one time mentor’s daughter. Once the case is over, he’s moving to Montana to heal his wounds from the loss of his last partner. But when their investigation takes a dangerous turn, Sunny and Judd soon realize their feelings for each other cannot be denied.

My Review:

I pretty much read this book in one sitting – Couldn’t put it down! It’s full of suspense, mystery and romance with a twist of humor woven throughout the story.

Spunky and sassy Private Investigator Sunny Kennedy has been hired to investigate a 26 year-old cold case, and she’s determined to solve this one, despite the over-protective interference from her police detective brothers and police chief father.

Somehow Sunny’s family of alpha males manage to saddle her with Judson Blackwolf, a sexy detective temporarily assigned to the police department until he can move on to Montana. If Sunny wants access to the police records that will help her in the investigation, she’s got to accept Judson as a partner on the murder case.

Judson’s blue-gray eyes, strong, rugged features and dark coloring that makes his Native American heritage obvious immediately catches Sunny’s attention. And sparks fly from the minute Judson snaps the cuffs on Sunny in a raid on Benny’s Playhouse, a club Sunny is bartending at undercover to gain information for her investigation.

I absolutely loved the surprise of Judson’s disguise - Did not see that coming - Talk about a shocker! And Sunny’s comebacks are snappy and downright hilarious. The sexual tension between Sunny and Judson consistently raised goose bumps throughout the story and culminated in one of the sexiest love scenes I’ve read in a long time. The fluid characterization caught and kept my interest, and the “Who done it?” kept me in suspense until the last few pages of the book. And, at several points in the book, I’m not ashamed to say the story had me swallowing a lump in my throat. This debut novel by Christine Warner is a real page-turner and a must read!

I have to give Some Like It In Handcuffs a Five Swan Review!
